Organizational Excellence Assessment

Our Organizational Excellence Assessment tool is a complimentary tool developed for our clients to evaluate their performance against empirical benchmarks. The tool is not quantitative in nature. It consists of sixteen elements, each presented in three functional scenarios that represent an aspect pertaining to world class, acceptable or poor performance.

By selecting the scenario that best describes the client’s environment an assessment of organizational excellence can be made... As a result, a radar chart depicting your position relative to “Underperforming” and “World Class” benchmark is developed based on the following four areas:

Organizational Assessment
An organizational assessment tool is used to determine the effectiveness of a given organizational structure and culture. We follow a five step method to assess organization structure alternatives. 98 elements are evaluated across a number of key dimensions. Vision and strategy, objectives, measurements, continuous improvement and supply chain improvement are assessed. We assess organizational quality using a Baldrige-related tool.

Headcount Studies
A headcount calculator is used to compare the client’s headcount to best-in-class practice. This algorithm uses standardized factors in estimating the number of headcount required based on standard work and job categories.

Roles and Responsibilities Analysis
This tool is used to link the current roles and responsibilities currently being demonstrated with those included in policies and procedures and other organizational guidance.

Process Management Analysis
We use value stream analysis and a process analysis framework to assess each key process and provide feedback on efficiency and results. A six-step continuous improvement model is used to describe potential improvements. We use a four stage process management framework across the dimensions of design, roles and responsibilities, infrastructure, and metrics to evaluate the potential for each key process. We focus our efforts on simplifying the steps used, making the steps fail safe, and continuously improving the results. We employ a standard process in conducting procurement system reviews for federal, state, and local governments. Calyptus uses a 7-step Strategic Sourcing process and Category Management process to identify and manage procurement projects.
